Melrose Nameplate & Label, located in Hayward, California, has been in business
since 1939, originally manufacturing metal nameplates in the historic Melrose
District of Oakland, California.
In the last two decades, Melrose has diversified, becoming one of the premiere
American manufacturers of complex engineered products, including membrane
switches, labels, membrane keypads, front panel overlays, touch screens, and 3D
logos and emblems -- in addition to the nameplates that gave us our name. We
now also manage our processes to optimize our customers’ supply chains.
During World War II, Melrose’s identification products helped the US war
effort and we greatly benefited from proximity to the shipbuilding yards of
the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, we engineer and manufacture graphic
and user-interface products for dozens of industries, right here in our
33,000 square foot facility in Hayward, California and our two factories in
China -- all three of which are ISO 9001:2008 registered.
Using computer-aided design, digital printing, and automation in our
fabrication and assembly processes, we have become a valued partner to
Silicon Valley manufacturers and others throughout North America.

Graphic Overlays and Panels including dead front backlit symbols, tinted, scratch resistant, anti-glare LCD windows and lenses; embossed features; printed halftones; full color images; products for indoor, outdoor, and fire-rated requirements.
Membrane Switches including switches with snap-dome action, light-touch sliders and wheels; silicone rubber; fiber optic, electroluminescent, LED, and light diffusing film backlights; silver on PET, copper on PET, Flex PCB, and Rigid PCB circuits with aluminum sub-panels.
Touch Screens including touch screen/membrane switch and touch screen/overlay combinations; low cost 4-wire; reliable multi-touch 5-wire, recalibration free 8-wire, and easily integrated touch matrix screens.
Assemblies. Whether you need a touch pad with a metal bezel, a circuit board design, or an injection molded enclosure, Melrose can engineer and manufacture an assembly that integrates with your products.
Permanent Labels including informational or full color labels with UL 969 recognized constructions applicable to most indoor and outdoor conditions; with UID, bar codes, and serial numbers. No plate or die charges.
Informational Metal Nameplates and Control Panels including UID military specification nameplates; acid-etched and die-cast nameplates; photosensitive Metal Photo (tm) and screen-printed nameplates, manufactured from aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and zinc.
Decorative Metal Plates, Emblems, and Panels including 3D electroformed metal nameplates; electroformed plastic emblems and crystal domes on labels; embossed, acid-etched, and color anodized nameplates; formed aluminum panels.
Supply Chain Management Melrose can manage our processes so as to optimize our customers’ supply chains. We often use postponement and Kanban to this end.
We have the capability to produce fast, tool-free prototypes in-house, eliminating the need for expensive tooling charges and large production runs.
