Other Membrane Switch Components

Melrose supplies membrane switches with jumper cables, copper conductors, membrane switches integrated with sheet metal with membrane switches integrated loaded printed circuit boards.

Jumper & FFC Card Cables: Melrose manufactures jumper and FFC card cables for membrane switch to PC board or board to board connections. The jumpers have copper conductors to both sides (with polyester laminated). They are terminated with either .100” pitch thermoplastic connectors, zif connectors or solder tabs.

Copper Conductors As Membrane Switch Static Layers: Either rigid or flexible (polyamid) printed circuit boards may be used in place of the conductive silver ink and polyester static layer. Copper conductor membrane switch static layers have significantly lower resistance when compared with silver on polyester.

The "horn" membrane switch shown below incorporates a rigid printed circuit board, stainless steel snapdomes, and an embossed 2nd surface printed textured polyester overlay. In the photo both sides of the printed circuit board of which one side shows the pads and center contact for the 12mm stainless steel snapomes. The spacer layer and snapdomes are not shown in the photo.

Membrane Switch/Sheet Metal Integration: Melrose supplies membrane switches mounted to sheet metal ready to assemble in a customer’s system. The sheet metal can include mounting studs, and other hardware as appropriate. Aluminum is the most common backing material. Steel, plastic, glass or fiber glass are also used as mounting surfaces.

Membrane Switch/Printed Circuit Board Integration: Melrose supplies membrane switches mounted to sheet metal assembled to a printed circuit board ready to assemble in a customer’s system. The membrane switch shown below controls a reverse osmosis water purification system. Melrose supplies the membrane switch, sheet metal, and printed printed circuit board. . This printed circuit board includes a processor, programmable memory, key board scanning function, and system control outputs. The system memory is programmed during final assembly.
