Melrose is capable of engineering and producing membrane switches for unique applications. We consider ourselves to be excellent problem solvers.
For example, the membrane switch shown below is huge..perhaps the largest membrane switch ever manufactured. This athletic training key pad measures 49"x49" and incorporates fibre optic illumination, a routed polycarbonate backing plate, 204 3”x3” non-tactile membrane keys, as well as a 5 key programing input key pad.
This membrane switch is used to train athletes to improve their hand eye coordination. The athlete hits illuminated squares (fibre optic illumination) with their hand, which triggers a non-tactile membrane switch closure. The time to hit the square is recorded by the computer, and another square is illuminated. The computer trains the athlete by illuminating squares and measuring response time to different parts of the key pad.
