Graphic overlays can be constructed from silicon rubber. Silicone rubber is one of the most stable rubber elastomers. When compared to natural rubber and other synthetic rubber, silicone rubber has excellent resistance to temperature and aging. Silicon rubber key pads contain a carbon pill that is used for “shorting” the conductive traces on the membrane switch static layer or a printed circuit board.
