Silicone Rubber Keypads
Silicone rubber keypads are an alternative to membrane switches when the look and feel of silicone rubber is preferred. They are used to actuate a circuit and often finished with a top bezel.
Melrose engineers are available from 6am to 5pm Pacific time (M-F). Please call 800-826-7741 or e-mail to review your requirement.
Melrose’s silicone rubber keypads are produced from translucent silicone rubber, which is then blended with pigments to create opaque colors, including fluorescent. Colors can also be created by printing, and spray painting.
The snap action of a silicone rubber key pad is determined by the durometer of the rubber used and the design of the web at the base of each key or a metal snap dome. Circuit closure is by means of a printed contact or carbon pill molded into the base of the keypad.
Melrose engineers will assist you in the design of your silicone rubber keypad, including the appropriate circuit (Silver on PET; Flex PCB; Rigid PCB) and a plastic bezel if required. We often create prototype tooling to prove a design before mass production.
